About the Project
Lufubu Power Company Limited is developing the Lufubu Hydropower Project, a large-scale renewable energy initiative located on the Lufubu River in Northern Province, Zambia. The project is designed to strengthen Zambia's energy security while supporting sustainable development through environmentally and socially responsible hydropower generation.
Project Overview
The Lufubu Hydropower Project is a proposed cascade of three hydropower plants developed along the Lufubu River Basin in Northern Province, Zambia. The project is being implemented by Lufubu Power Company Limited, a Zambian Independent Power Producer.
The cascade comprises:
- Lufubu 1 (LU-1)
- Lufubu 2 (LU-2)
- Lufubu 3 (LU-3)
When fully developed, the project will have a total installed capacity of 326 MW, making it one of the most significant renewable energy projects in Northern Zambia and a key contributor to regional power supply.
